Innovative company to share intelligence with the world
Growing Canberra tech firm Trellis Data is set to take its cutting edge artificial intelligence (AI) platform to the world after securing a significant capital injection, including $3 million from the CSIRO’s innovation fund.
The funds boost will accelerate the company’s expansion and fuel further development of its world-leading machine learning technology.
The Trellis Intelligence Platform interprets and provides intelligence on all kinds of data and enables organisations to come up with solutions to complex problems across a range of sectors.
What sets Trellis apart from other AI firms is its world-first real-time explainer tool which is able to inform users why the AI machine has made its decision.
Trellis says its platform is the world’s easiest machine learning software to use.
It is currently used by a number of sectors including the Australian Government and Defence as well as financial and consulting services.
The platform is being deployed to help detect hitchhiker pests on containers at Australia’s shipping ports, make decisions at the edge for the Australian Defence Force, determine the compliance of documents against international standards as well as understanding the reasons for a customer’s change of behaviour and therefore predicting non-compliance.
Barton-based Trellis Data remains fully Australian owned and has experienced tremendous success since launching in 2016 – doubling in size year-on-year over the last three years.
The company aims to build on this success with the fresh investment going towards growing Australian Government and private sector markets as well as looking overseas this year.
“It has been a great journey since we started Trellis Data just a few years ago,” said CEO Michael Gately.
“The support from all our investors, and especially [the CSIRO’s] Main Sequence Ventures, has enabled us to accelerate our technology to enable us to gain rapid market share and put us in a position to launch international expansion in 2021.
“The key to our growth is leveraging world-leading neural network techniques, along with real-time explanations that can be trusted to solve a myriad of problems for our customers. The platform leverages videos, sound, documents and structured data, independently or in combination to solve the most complex problems.”
Main Sequence Ventures led the recently completed funding round.
It aims to identify and support businesses that stimulate innovation in Australia and says Trellis Data’s cutting-edge technology is making artificial intelligence and machine learning explainable, accessible and transparent.
“Trellis Data’s ground-breaking technology will enable AI to be implemented across a number of key markets, bringing trusted AI to every organisation in Australia and around the world,” Main Sequence Venture’s Bill Bartee said.
